Y Older Adults

The Senior Center provides services, meals and programs for Macomb & McDonough County residents aged 60 or older (and their spouses, whatever age).

Nutritious, hot meals are provided at five meal sites in McDonough County. Meals for homebound Seniors in Macomb, Blandinsville, Colchester, Industry and Bushnell are available for either pick up or delivery and, while contributions are recommended, no Senior is ever refused a meal due to inability, or unwillingness, to pay. We also offer cold sack lunches to homebound clients.

Our Outreach worker provides information and application assistance to homebound Seniors regarding available services and benefits.

Activities and Programs

Seniors are invited to drop in during regular hours at the Center to enjoy books, magazines, puzzles and games. A TV set, a piano, an organ and a pool table are available for use as well.

Recreational and educational activities include: dancing, singing, card playing, bowling, crafts, swimming, fitness classes, walking, Rules of the Road, 55-Alive, and more. Additionally, Seniors are able to obtain twice-monthly blood pressure checks, monthly fasting blood sugar checks and quarterly cholesterol checks. Frequent presentations are made by speakers representing a broad cross-section of community and health service agencies.
