Taekwondo is one of the most systematic and scientific Korean traditional
martial arts, that teaches more than physical fighting skills. It is a
discipline that shows ways of enhancing our spirit and life through training
our body and mind. Taught by Willie Jones, Taekwondo will teach discipline
as well as self-confidence. Jones is a second degree black belt in the arts
and has studied for more than 20 years. There will be a youth class for children ages seven through fourteen as well as as adult class. Tai Chi, as it is practiced in the west today, can perhaps best be thought of as a moving form of yoga and meditation combined. There are a number of forms which consist of a sequence of movements. Many of these movements are originally derived from the martial arts although the way they are performed in Tai Chi is slowly, softly and gracefully with smooth and even transitions between them. Tai Chi helps develop better breathing methods, lower blood pressure, and improve balance. This class is also taught by Willie Jones. |
