PERSONAL ASSISTANCE

NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION
Members receive a tour of the building and instruction in the proper use of cardiovascular and strength training machines. An introductory look at the YMCA exercise equipment will help you on your road to fitness. Members Only. Every first and third Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Free for members.

FITNESS CONSULTATION
Need to get in shape, but don't know where to start? One way is with a fitness consultation. Your fitness level as well as your workout preference will be considered in developing a program based on your goals. Includes instruction in the proper use of cardiovascular and strength training machines. Your target rate for optimal aerobic exercise will also be developed to keep your cardiovascular system in tip-top condition. Members Only. By appointment.

Fee: $10

PERSONAL TRAINING
Are you looking for personal assistance and motivation in keeping to your program goals? Make an appointment with our certified Personal Trainer today! Sesion packages available. A contract is required. Members only. By appointment.

SPECIAL EVENTS

BIT-BY-BIT TRIATHLON
Get the New Year started off right with a new workout program. The Bit-By-Bit gives you six weeks to run, bike, and swim what an ironman Triathlete accomplishes in one day! Join others as the chart their mileage and get fit bit-by-bit! (Sorry, these miles are not allowed to contribuet to Milestone Club miles.) Members Only.

Fee: $6.00 Finishers receive a T-shirt.

BACK TO BASIC BREAK WEEKS - JANUARY
Learn the basics of step, aerobics, kickboxing, and weight training. Here is the chance for new members, or members that are new to group exercise, to fulfill those New Year's resolutions of becoming more active. The intensity is lower, the movements more simple - just right for a new exerciser but still a workout for those that have a higher fitness level. See the Front Desk for schedule.

Fee: Free for members.

RIVER TO RIVER CHALLENGE
Exercise your way across Illinois! Participants use mileage obtained in McDonough County ( or anywhere ) to count toward the distance from the Mississippi River across the state to the Wabash River. Running, walking, elliptical workouts, and land exercise and water based cardio classes can be included to accomplish this 12 - week mission. Sorry, these miles are not allowed to contribute to Milestone Club miles. Members only.

Fee: $16.00 Finishers receive a T-shirt.


FITNESS CLASSES

RISE AND SHINE
Get a jump on your day and take advantage of this early morning workout. The cardio workout will change throughout the week but will always energize you. A muscle conditioning segment and stretch will complete your workout.

Fee: $70 Member: $28

CARDIO MIX
The best deal around! An invigorating daily workout utilizing a variety of cardiovascular training activities (step training, hi-lo, kickboxing, intervals, etc). Participants are encouraged to work at their own pace; the instructor will provide options for different fitness levels. Floor work for strengthening and toning will be a part of the M/W/F class, the T/TH class is followed by Simply Sculpt. (included in the Cardio Mix price).

SIMPLY SCULPT!
This group strength training workout uses dumbbells, stability balls, resistance tubing and other exercise props. Learn a variety of ways to train the muscles of your upper and lower body as well as your core (abs and back).

Fee: $48 Member: $19

MUSCLE MIX
Need some variety in your muscle management? Work everything from the neck down in the class. Several exercise props (stability ball, dumbbells, bench, etc.) will help you condition and strengthen. A relaxing stretch segment will enhance your flexibility.

POWER LUNCH
Don't have time to work out after work? Join this noon-time class for a fitness fix. This strengthening and conditioning class will be the best lunch your body ever had.

Fee: $43 Member: $17

STEP VARIETY

Progress from simple step moves to easy-to-follow combinations for a great cardio workout. This low-impact class with an adjustable step accommodates various fitness levels in one class. Interval step, double step, and vertical step are just a few of the ways the step will be utilized. A toning and stretching segment will round out your workout.

TOTAL BODY CONDITIONING (T. B. C.)
An exciting class utilizing the elements of kick boxing on Tuesdays and Hi/Lo aerobics on Thursday and weight training. Half the class time is spent on cardiovascular workout and half is spent on weight training with the body bar and other props that help challenge your muscles. Enjoy the possibilities. No boxing experience necessary.

Fee: $70 Member: $28

GROUP STRENGTH TRAINING (Specialty Class)
Personal training in a group setting designed to tone and strengthen. Workout programs will be individualized and updated each class.

Fee: $73 Member: $29

INDIVIDUAL STRENGTH TRAINING (Specialty Class)
A class appropriate for those participants ready to be more independent in their strength training workouts. Instructors updates strength training routines and meets with group once a week.

YOGA A. M.
Yoga is so much more than a form of exercise. Although the practice of each posture does develop strength, balance, and flexibility there is more to be gained from practicing Yoga. The morning Yoga class aims to raise awareness of your body and breath and show you how together they can energize the body while simultaneously quieting the mind.

Yoga P.M.
Yoga is an ancient system designed to increase strength, flexibility, and balance of your spirit, mind, and body. Class is organized so that the absolute beginner, as well as the more experienced student can both benefit.

PILATES
The Pilates' method os body conditioning is a unique system of stretching and stretching exercises. It strengthens the core, improves posture and flexibility, and unites body and mind.

T'AI CHI FOR SPIRIT, MIND AND BODY (Specialty Class)

T'AI CHI, an ancient form of exercise, is ideal for seniors or those seeking a gentle yet effective form of exercise.  After a warm-up period, the tai chi form (Yang style) will be taught in the traditional manner where the instructor will demonstrate and the class will follow along.  The exercises will be done in a quiet, meditative environment.

TAEKWONDO FOR ADULTS AND YOUTH (Specialty Class)

Taekwondo is a Korean martial arts form that was developed over 1000 years ago and has become one of the world's most successful and popular martial arts. Its practioners enjoy physical and mental discipline, self-confidence, as well as excellent fitness levels.

Fee: $136 Member: $67.50

JUNIOR AND SENIOR HIGH CONDITIONING CAMP (SUMMER ONLY)

Build your spirit, mind and body in a total conditioning class.This co-ed class will help you build physical and mental confidence through intense weight training and flexibility workouts. Learn safe and effective ways to develop a stronger, fit body. A physical is required and needs to be on file at the YMCA before participation in the program.

ACTIVE OLDER ADULTS

MASTER BUILDERS
This weight training class is designed with the senior in mind. The emphasis will be on maintaining/improving strength and flexibility, plus developing core strength and better balance.  Individual needs will also be addressed. Participants will be instructed and closely supervised in the Paramount Room. Studio workouts will utilize a variety of exercise props.

Fee: $25 for those 60 and over.

BALANCE, STRETCH, AND STRENGTH
A class ideal for those individuals who have not exercised for awhile, are overweight, deconditioned, or a senior citizen. Learn a variety of ways to maintain/improve your flexibility, balance, strength, and core muscles (abs and back). The instructor will suggest ways to challenge individuals so participants can progress at their own rate. If you let it REST, it will RUST. Join us.

Fee: $4.00 Member: $1

SIT N' TONE (Senior Center)
A class ideal for those who are deconditioned, over-weight, over 60 or suffering from arthritis. All exercise takes place sitting in a chair or holding onto a chair. Range of motion, flexibility and strengthening exercises will help participants feel worked out from head on down! All exercises approved by the Arthritis Foundation. If you make reservation you can stay for lunch.

Fee: FREE

 

Adult / Teen Flex Options

A FITNESS CLASS FLEX PASS (Specialty classes not included: Yoga, Pilates, Group Strength Training)
Does your changing schedule make it difficult to attend fitness classes at the same time on the same days each week? Would you like the flexibility of being able to attend different classes at different times throughout the session? Select a 14-class AEROBICS CLASS FLEX PASS, valid for an 7 week session. You may then attend 14 fitness classes, (both land and water) of your choice (providing space and equipment are available).

Fee: $79 Member: $31.50


OPEN CLASS PASS

This pass provides the optimum in flexibility and participation. For one fee you may attend as many fitness classes (both land and water) as you desire for the session. Join a class everyday or several times a day. It's up to you!
