The YMCA offers
After School Care, Community Child Care Center and Y- Tot programs
for your children as a safe place to go for positive guidance and enhanced
feelings of self worth. |
| Y-Tots |
|
The Y-Tot program features developmentally appropriate activities which incrementally guide three, four and five year olds through socialization, self awareness, interaction, communicative and language skills. Non-redundant classes provide an environment in which inquisitiveness and natural awareness lead to the development of a child's educational thought processes. Stimulating daily sessions include large motor activities, spatial imaging techniques, and whole group interaction in the gym. Activities in the special Y-Tot classroom help teach progressive skills directed toward special kindergarten readiness activities. For Y members only.
Limit of 20 children per class strictly adhered to. |
| After School Child Care |
|
For students in kindergarten
through 6th grade. Offered through Macomb School District #185 at Lincoln
School and through Northwestern School District at Northwestern Elementary
School. Developmentally appropriate activities. Registration continues
throughout the year.
Afternoon care available (Three day minimum). A sliding fee scale is available to qualifying families.
Transportation is provided from Edison School and the YMCA for swimming, sports and gymnastics lessons. Those who wish to participate in lessons follow the regular YMCA class registration payment and procedures. Financial Aid is
available through the YMCA to qualifying families. |
| YMCA Community Child Care Center |
|
YMCA Community Child Care Center Located at 520 E. Piper St., our center serves the community as a professional in quality child care. Our staff is required to have a college education and/or early childhood experience and must attend 15 hours of in-service training per year. Additionally, they are certified in CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogens/HIV training. Our center is licensed by Department of Children and Family Services. The daily schedule includes breakfast, a hot lunch and an afternoon snack; large and small group interaction and outdoor activities. A daily report is filled out for each child by the teachers for the parents at the end of the day. This report tells the parent what activities their child enjoyed, how well they ate and rested, their behavior and other information. In addition to our
classroom, our Center has a large gym for indoor play. Also, field trips
are a part of our curriculum. They may include a picnic; going to the
library; a visit to a farm; or just walking around the neighborhood.
We observe six of the major holidays, plus the day after Thanksgiving
and the week between Christmas and New Year's Day. |
